MOONHUB has launched a new management hierarchy system that better mirrors real-world organisational structures. This update replaces the older, flat model with a flexible, tree-based hierarchy that improves visibility, simplifies reporting, and removes the need to duplicate groups.
This article covers:
What’s changed from the old system
The benefits of the new model
How to use it effectively
What Was the Old Hierarchy?
Previously:
Managers could only view their directly assigned learners
Admins had access to everything
Groups operated in isolation
Learners couldn’t be easily placed across multiple groups without confusion
This created challenges for teams managing multiple sites, shifts, or regional teams.
What’s New?
The new management hierarchy introduces a tree-based structure. Here's how it works:
Managers now automatically see all learners in their assigned groups.
Learners can be assigned to multiple groups without affecting visibility or reporting
Admins and Managers no longer need to manually create duplicate groups for visibility
Reporting now reflects the full scope of a Manager’s tree, including all nested groups
Key Benefits
Better reflects team structures (departments, shifts, regions)
Reduces admin work — no more duplicate groups
Managers gain full visibility into their teams, even across nested groups
Improved training analytics and reporting accuracy
Supports flexible group membership for learners
How to Use the New Hierarchy
1. Assign Managers to Groups
When you assign a Manager to a group, they will automatically have access to:
All learners in that group
Any learners added in the future
2. Use Groups to Match Your Team Structure
We recommend creating groups for:
Sites or locations
Departments or roles
Shifts or teams
Learners can now belong to multiple groups — no conflict, no confusion.
3. Use the Dashboard for Group-Based Reporting
Managers can pull reports that cover:
Their assigned group
All training performance metrics by suite or module
